Fargo, ND – Chase Michael Holen, 33, of Fargo, ND passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 28, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with addiction.
Chase was born the youngest of two children to parents Mike and Julie (Svean) Holen of Goodridge, on March 22, 1990. He was baptized at Eklund Lutheran Church in Goodridge, and later confirmed at Atonement Church in Fargo. He moved with his family in 1994 to Barnesville, where he started preschool and attended high school.
From an early age, Chase loved machines and turned that interest into a career that he enjoyed, operating heavy equipment for Border States Paving and Advanced Striping and Seal Coating in Fargo, ND for many years until the time of his death.
Chase met Carra Lynn Holubok in 2015 where he was able to be a part of her daughter Harmony’s life and later welcomed Cash Steven Holen in June of 2017.
Being born into a family who loved the outdoors, he naturally became an avid hunter and fisherman. Chase was his dad’s buddy on every fishing and hunting trip from a young age. He learned to value nature while hunting and fishing with his dad, uncles, and cousins on their many trips up North. He has passed this appreciation down to his son Cash. Chase’s favorite pastime was spending weekends with him at his parent’s hobby farm in Park Rapids. From roaming around the woods, to kayaking on the lake, he was able to pass down his love for nature along with many life lessons to Cash, just as his dad did for him.
Chase is survived by his parents, Mike and Julie Holen of Park Rapids sister Trisha (Tanner) Jorud (Frazee) and their children Jett and Crue; son, Cash Holen; Cash’s mother, Carra Holubok and her daughter Harmony (Barnesville).
Chase was preceded in death by grandparents, Mayer and Colleen Holen, Myron Svean and Pat Loyland; aunt, Susie Lykken; uncles, Danny Svean and Daryl Adams; and cousins, Adam Lykken and Ian Holen.
Addiction is a cruel enemy, but we are so proud of the years Chase overcame it. He had a big heart that included his love for God and his beloved son, Cash, his family, his pets, his friends, and coworkers. He never lost his kind-hearted personality, and he was so proud of the new life that lay ahead for him and his family. Our hearts are eased in knowing that Chase will be welcomed by all his grandparents, aunts, uncles and beloved cousins, Adam and Ian.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Community Alliance Church in Detroit Lakes.
In lieu of flowers and trees, the family has set up a GoFundMe account for the future care of Chase’s 6-year-old son, Cash. Click on link to donate. https://gofund.me/8299d0c1.
