Thief River Falls – Eunice Wiskow, 92, of Thief River Falls, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls.
Eunice Delores Olson was one of nine children born to Neda (Olson) and Engvart K. Olson on June 17, 1931 in Kiester. She grew up on a farm near Badger, and attended Sunshine Country School and then Badger High School, graduating in 1949.
Eunice worked at Union Bank, Thief River Falls until her marriage to Arnold Wiskow on October 15th, 1951. While Arnie was stationed at Fort Lewis Army Base in WA and during his deployment, Eunice rented out apartments for their landlord. In 1957, Arnie was honorably discharged from the army and they moved to Thief River Falls, where they made their home and raised three children. When the youngest entered kindergarten, Eunice began her career at Northern State Bank in Thief River Falls until her retirement in 1990.
Eunice and Arnie enjoyed 12 years wintering in Apache Junction, AZ where they made lifelong friends. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting and dancing events.
Eunice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband of 72 years, Arnold; children, Terry (Danny) Haack of Grygla, Jodi (Brad) Schumacher of East Grand Forks and Tim (Kim) Wiskow of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Ben) Miller, Jeremy (Tonia) Haack, Kyle Haack, Ashley Wiskow, Brittany (R.J.) Weme, Courtney (Chad) Koepke, Kayli (Brandon) Altepeter, Abby (fiancé, Matt Schalow) Schumacher; six great-grandchildren, Jared, Reese, Matthew, Riley, Avery, Josie; sister, Arla (Mailen) Wiskow; and many nieces and nephews.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and seven sisters.
The funeral service to celebrate Eunice’s life will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 19, 2023 with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
