– Prestan Marquis passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by his family and friends.
Prestan Gabriel Marquis was born on August 14, 1991, at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, the youngest of 6 children born to Arlen and Joani (Jensen) Marquis of Trail. Prestan was dedicated to the Lord at Bethel Assembly in Fosston, in 1991 and in 2000 he accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at River of Life Church by Pastor Troy Bates.
Prestan was a fun loving, curious, busy, and active little boy who kept his siblings on their toes, especially his older sisters. He was witty, comical and had a great memory for reciting lines from his favorite movies and cartoons. He loved to dress up in his Superhero costumes while watching cartoons. On November 1, 1996, Prestan was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
He was homeschooled, then later attended the Community Church Christian School in Thief River Falls where he made many friends and played soccer. In 2002-2003, he entered Goodridge Public School in Goodridge, in the 5th grade. He joined Tae Kwon Do, attended Bible Camp and Camp Sioux in ND during the summer. Prestan participated in junior high basketball, football, band, and school plays. In 2009, he traveled to Europe with People to People. In 2010, he graduated from GHS and attended NCTC. Prestan regularly attended church with his family and was involved in Children’s Ministry, audio/ video, ushering and singing with the Praise and Worship Team.
Some of Prestan’s favorite topics centered around politics, history, comics, movies, TV series, MN Wild hockey, video games, and wrestling. He had a great memory for dates and events. He loved singing, learning random facts, researching history, experimenting with spices in the kitchen, folding laundry with nice crisp lines, parties, teaching people new things, doing impressions of celebrities and politicians, making people laugh, and any time he could hang out with friends and family.
Prestan was employed at various jobs including: Northwest Medical Center, TRF Care Center, Pennington Main, Arctic Cat Enterprises, Spee-Dee Delivery, and the USPS. He was currently employed at Digi-Key Corp.
In 2017, Prestan met Lillian Fox and they became engaged in 2019. Prestan and Lillian were married on September 5, 2020, at River of Life Church in Thief River Falls. Their son, Eli Jerald Marquis, was born on May 24, 2023, in Fargo, ND.
Prestan is survived by and will forever be missed by his loving wife, Lillian; their son, Eli; his parents, Arlen and Joani; siblings, Tera (Stuart) Carter, Ridley and Griffin of Aurora, CO; Garett (Christina) Marquis, Andrew, Caleb, and Owen of Detroit Lakes; Averre (Erica) Marquis, Peyton and Sloane of Detroit Lakes; Shandrae (Nick) Kazmierczak, Damian and Mason of St. Hilaire; and Britanne (Justin) Edevold, Jackson and Cyrus of Red Lake Falls. Prestan is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Bonnie Jensen of Oklee; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Also, his two fur babies, DeeDee and Kaz.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dick and Marian Marquis and Alvin Jensen; his aunt, Sharon Jensen; cousins, Lilliann Jensen, Seth Marquis, Gabriel Knudson; and friend John Ewens.
On Friday, March 15, 2024, a visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
On Saturday, March 16, 2024, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Pastor Curtis Johnson officiating.
