Detroit Lakes – Dennis Paesler, of Detroit Lakes, passed away on April 23, 2024 in the town of Perham.
Dennis was born in Perham, to Albert and Marjorie Paesler on July 28, 1947. He graduated from Frazee High School and attended Moorhead State College.
He married Karen Mattson of Detroit Lakes in 1968. One child, Gretchen was born to this union. In 1981, Dennis married Bonnie Legoo of White Earth.
Dennis returned to college and earned an accounting degree and spent the rest of his career in accounting related positions. The majority of his career was as the business manager at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls.
He enjoyed music and was very active in high school band and choir. He learned guitar in his early teens and played his first dance when he was sixteen. Because of his young age, a parent had to accompany him to establishments that served adult beverages. He played in five different bands over a 20-year span.
He took up golf in his forties, and was an avid golfer the rest of his life. He had a lot of golf buddies, and played at many different courses across the state. Dennis retired in 2014, and golf became almost a daily routine.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Bonnie; stepdaughter, Christie (Jeff) Van Hecke; stepson, Jerry; daughter, Gretchen (Trevor) Thilmony; two grandchildren, Hayden and Loren; brother, Donald; sister, Dixie (Bob) Moe; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, a nephew and several cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.
Visitation will be from 1– 2 p.m. at the church on Saturday.
Interment will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Evergreen.
