Darlene was born September 19, 1936, to Ernest and Agnes (Bagaas) Klopp at home on a farm west of Newfolden. She was the oldest of seven children. She attended country school through 8th grade, and then high school in Argyle, graduating in 1954.
Darlene was united in marriage to John Roseland on October 7, 1956. After marriage, they lived in Junction City, KS, and Chicago, IL, while John was in the service. The early years of marriage were spent at home raising their four children and helping with the farm. Later she also worked at Arctic Cat and then several years at Northwest Medical Center in the dietary department.
Darlene joined the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden in 1960 where she served in various capacities over the years and attended until her death.
Darlene enjoyed sewing and embroidery, gifting all of her children and grandchildren with quilts and sets of dishtowels. She also enjoyed entertaining family and loved a house full of guests. Her freezer was always stocked with her famous meatballs and special baked goods and she could quickly prepare a meal for anyone who stopped by. Christmas was an extra special time with a Christ-centered family program and an abundance of homemade goodies including lefse, krumkake, flatbread and rosettes. Some of her grandchildren’s favorite memories are waffles in the mornings, and popcorn and chocolate malts in the evenings.
Darlene is survived by three of her four children: Robin (Larry) Langevin, Rhonda (Carl) Wotowis, Rolland (Mary) Roseland; 15 grandchildren: Shane (Stacy), Carisa (JR), Matthew (Anna), Marcus, Miranda, Keegan (Greg), Rylee (Keith), Brennan, Caleb (Rebecca), Hannah (Alex), Elizabeth, Katherine (Julio), Roshan (Trentyn), Raina, and Regan (Autumn); 21 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Collin, Jacey, Jaclyn, Wyatt, Wayde, Bridger, Brinlee, Theodora, Joseph, Ren, Olive, Clayton, Autumn, Pippa, Emry, Tasiana, Mateo, Abram, Waylon, and one due in July; siblings: Jean (Leonard) Mathews, Bonnye (Richard) Renz, Dennis (Sharon) Klopp, Karen (Ken Hanson) Mumm, and Patty (Rick Hruby) Klopp; sisters-in-law: Pauline Bondy and Diann Sewald; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
