Terrebonne – MaDonna “Donna” Marie Paradis, of Terrebonne, age 83, died on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home, Crookston.
Donna Marie Paradis was born May 17, 1941, at the home farm in Terrebonne Township, the daughter of Alphonse and Myrtle (Ehaust) Baatz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor. She attended Mentor Public School, graduating in 1959.
On December 19, 1959, Donna was united in marriage to Mark Kenneth Paradis in Mentor. The couple made their home in Terrebonne. After Mark’s passing in 2011, Donna continued to reside in Terrebonne.
Donna worked at multiple nursing homes: Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile, Villa St.Vincent, Crookston, Pioneer Memorial, Erskine, and also at Lady Slipper Designs, Bemidji.
Donna was on the Terrebonne Township Board and St. Anthony’s Church Council, and she sang in the choir. She loved her cat, Sammy, spending time with family, watching the Molly B polka show, listening to country western music, and enjoying the entertainment of the Grand Ole Opry. Donna was known for her hospitality, serving chicken meals on Sundays at 10 a.m. and having coffee with family and friends at their corner home in Terrebonne.
Donna is survived by four children, Bernadette Paradis, Fred Paradis, Louis Paradis, and Thomas Paradis (Julia Smith); grandchildren, Olivia (Jeremy) and Xavier Hruby, Rhonda Paradis, Kirby (Kim) Paradis, Anthony Paradis, Adam and LaChele Dirks, Devin Paradis, Marcus Paradis, and Chandler Neufeld and Ayashe Lajinodiere; great-grandchildren, Kira Katie, Klaire, Gabriel, Benjamin, Vivienne and Oliver; and sisters, Agnes Reek, and Yvonne Berhow.
Donna was preceded in death by husband, Mark Paradis; and son, Kenneth (Pookie) Paradis; parents, Alphonse and Myrtle Baatz; sisters, Leora Buehrle and Mary McGlynn; brother, Tony Baatz; son-in-law, Jerome Hruby; and grandparents, Waldemar and Dorthea Ehaust, and John and Louisa Baatz.
Donna’s family wants to thank the staff at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their loving care.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, with Father Brian Kujawa officiating.
Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Terrebonne.
Visitation will be one hour before the service.
