Red Lake Falls – Janice Olson, 74, of Red Lake Falls, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Janice Jeanne Olson was born on June 24, 1950, to Lester and Mabel (Walker) Gutheridge in Petersburg, ND. She was raised in Niagara, ND and as a teenager, she moved with her family to the Crookston area.
Janice was united in marriage to David Olson on January 31, 1969, in Erskine. To this union, two daughters were born, Jean and Patty. Janice was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor. The couple made their home in Mentor until 1978 and then moved to Red Lake Falls, where she currently resided.
Janice worked at the Ness Café in Erskine, Pamida in Crookston, and then received her nursing degree working in the healthcare field until her retirement. She worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Pine to Prairie Home Care, and the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston.
Janice loved to read, crosswords, listen to music, bake, walk, spend time with her beloved dog, Bud, and most importantly spend time with her family.
She was a member of the Red Lake Falls Ambulance for many years and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Jean (Derek) Lambert of Red Lake Falls, Patty (Tory) Sorenson of Red Lake Falls; grandchildren, Lucas (Greg) Barge-Gulbranson, Taren Hasby, Jaye Pyatte, Reese Lambert, Tyler Sorenson; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Austin, Charlie; siblings, Lester (Helen) Gutheridge of Crookston, Judy (Dave) Hiemenz of Little Falls, Juanita (Dale) Karst of Idaho, Joanne Schultz of Red Lake Falls; in-laws, Roger Olson of Mentor, Nancy (Rolland) Gagner of Moorhead, Gloria Parkin of Florida; along with several nieces and nephews.
Janice is preceded in death by her loving husband, David; parents, Lester, Mabel and Rosie; beloved grandson, Joshua Chaput; siblings, Raymond Gutheridge and Jane Briggs; along with other beloved family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, with Reverend Jeff Lytle officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
