Thief River Falls – Adeline Olson, 66, of Thief River Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Adeline A. Olson was born October 21, 1957 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of George Andrew and Joyce Theron (Johnsrud) Olson. She attended St. Bernard’s Catholic School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls with the Class of 1976.
She began her working career in the courthouse in Aitkin, and continued the next 40 years in the Assessor’s Office in Pennington County, retiring in 2020.
Adeline was a master crafter, an architect of adventure, and loved others with a love that will last more than one lifetime.
She loved giving her five nieces the gift of adventuring across the state to go camping, visiting family at the lake, picking berries from the garden, traveling across the country, and having grand moments with her dearest friends sharing stories of cherished times past. She burned memories of laughter and love into her nieces’ souls that they’ll always remember.
Adeline had a heart of gold and was always there when you needed her. Once Adeline drove 45 minutes away in search of a specific type of pajamas for her great-niece and nephew and she promptly mailed them to Arizona! Many will miss the delight of receiving mail from Adeline, whether it was a package or just a letter.
Adeline loved to scrapbook! She loved to bring others joy by capturing precious memories on paper and film. She made countless worlds brighter through every season, especially Christmastime, through her love of turning scraps into sweet scrapbook memories.
Adeline was a long-time member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, where she enjoyed volunteering anytime she could.
Survivors include her sister, Andrea (Dan) Dowers; brother, Mark Olson, all of Thief River Falls; five nieces, Mary Jo (Drew) Oesterreicher of Laveen, AZ, Ashley (Bradley Reuter) Olson of Blackduck, Amanda (Kyle) Anderson of Warren, Tami Dowers-Edwards of Thief River Falls and Lisa Dowers of Cleveland, OH; great-nieces and nephews, Emily Oesterreicher, Corbin Oesterreicher, Malcolm Edwards, Forrest Reuter; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Patricia “Patty” Olson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Craig Vasek presiding.
