Goodridge – Edgar Miller, 90, of Goodridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Neilson Place in Bemidji, with his loving family by his side.
On March 15, 1934, Edgar James Miller was born at home and was one of ten children born to Morris and Signe (Sjulestad) Miller. He was a hardworking boy who attended country school until 8th grade. He learned very early in life the meaning and dignity of hard work. He moved to his grandparent’s farm to help out when he was a teenager. Edgar was gifted at making things work and inventing ways to get things done on the farm. He had a solid and traditional faith and was thankful for his Reiner Church family where he served as custodian for many years.
Edgar was a quiet man of few words and expressed himself through his love of music, especially playing his accordion, often at local nursing homes. Memories of Edgar playing his music and teaching family members how to dance in the kitchen, will be forever etched in the hearts of the family.
Edgar married his one and only love in 1957, Dorothy Mae Coan. Together they settled on the John and Alma Miller homestead in Reiner Township where they raised cattle and small grains. They had a long life together and were a positive example of a strong foundational marriage. They knew their love was a gift from God and they cherished each other and their four children MariLou, Shirley, Jack, and Gary.
Edgar is survived by his daughters, MariLou Cwikla, Shirley (Bruce) Wegley; sons, Jack (Jayne) Miller, and Gary Miller; grandchildren, Garrett (Amanda), Laura (Jeff), Samantha (Brandon), Diana (Alfonso), McKenzy, Jaclyn, Kari, Luke (Tori), Chloe (Chase), and Holden; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Delores “Dodie” Keim, Marilyn Lacoursiere, Richard “Dickie” (Judy) Miller, Judy (Richard “Red”) Anderson, Joyce Geer, Morrie (Mary) Miller, Gene (Kari) Miller; sisters-in-law, Sharon Miller and Margie Coan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents; sons-in-law, Bob Cwikla and Donovan Verbout; sister, Sharon (Leon) Iverson; brother, Norman; brothers-in-law, Arnold Keim, Dick Lacoursiere, and Larry Geer; father and mother-in-law, Bert and Inga Coan; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Coan.
Edgar’s family deeply appreciates your kindness and memorial donations. No thank you cards will be sent.
