Thief River Falls – Tammy Johnson, of Thief River Falls, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at her residence in Thief River Falls.
Tammy Martha Thrane was born March 21, 1964, in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Gordon Oliver and June Jane (Fredrickson) Thrane. Tammy had a brother, Michael Gordon Thrane and a sister, Judy Bertha Thrane. She attended Knox Elementary, Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High School, graduating in 1982. She was a member of the Girl Scouts, Prowlins dance line for Lincoln High (she loved to dance) and was a member of the band, playing clarinet in Franklin and Lincoln High School.
Tammy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she attended Sunday School and was confirmed.
On July 7, 1984, Tammy was united in marriage to Wade Lee Johnson at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. The couple started a family and they were blessed with Corey Michael Johnson in 1986 and Codey Lee Johnson in 1989. The family made their home in Thief River Falls.
Tammy and Wade transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church for worship to be with their family and children who were attending Sunday School there and were confirmed.
Tammy worked at Mr. Duane’s, JCPenney (part-time) and Hugo’s when they first opened. Then in 1989, she began working part-time at Digi-Key, which after two years of employment, she went full-time and spent 19 years as a Sales Supervisor. She transitioned to the 12-hour night shift to make a move to Fergus Falls in order to follow Wade’s job. Tammy remained at Digi-Key and traveled back and forth for four years. She loved her home in Fergus Falls, had great neighbors and enjoyed the lake feel in the summer.
Tammy loved to watch hockey and spent many years watching her boys play for the Prowlers. She loved decorating (her main hobby) and loved to make her home welcome to all friends and family. Her life was her husband and boys, and her first grandson, Brennen Lee Johnson, was the star in her eye. She also enjoyed her friends that belonged to the Round Table, a group of friends that during frustrating times of need, were there for each other without letting the whole world know.
She is survived by sons, Corey (Michelle) Johnson and Codey (fiancée Hailey) Johnson; grandchildren, Brennen, Paige, Zane, Aleigha, Hudson; sister, Judy (Steve) Lappegaard; mother-in-law, Esther Johnson; sisters-in-law, Sherri (Del) Christianson and Vicki Johnson; niece, Jackie (Eric) Pagel; along with other extended family.
Tammy is preceded in death by her husband, Wade; parents; brother, Michael Thrane; nieces, Gina Lin Lappegaard Anderson and Jill Dawn Lappegaard; and father-in-law, Richard Johnson.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Reverend Clay Ellingson officiating. Burial was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation was held on Friday evening at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls from 5 p.m. until prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and was also held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
