Trail – David Arveson, 83, of rural Trail, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls.
David Lester Arveson was born November 18, 1940, in Thief River Falls, to Lester and Marianna (Anderson) Arveson. He was baptized at Little Oak Lutheran Church. He went to country school at Little Oak School from first – 8th grade and graduated in 1959 from Goodridge High School.
He served in the United States Air Force National Guard for six years, from 1963–1969.
On June 9, 1973, David was united in marriage to Linda Kershaw at the United Methodist Church in Bismarck, ND. To this union three boys were born, Michael, Darrin and Kyle.
David was confirmed and was a life-long member of Nazareth Lutheran Church where he served many years as church Trustee. He also served on the Oklee Creamery Board and many years on Hickory Township Board as a Clerk.
He farmed his whole life and raised his boys on the Arveson Family Farm which was established in 1910 in Hickory Township. Also in the fall, he enjoyed working with Imle Farms during the potato harvest. In his retirement, he enjoyed visiting with neighbors, drinking coffee and eating sweets. He liked to drive his Ranger with his sidekick (pug) Ole.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Linda; sons, Michael (Claudine), Darrin (Jennifer) and Kyle; grandchildren, Donna (Seth) Senn with great-grandchild to be; Nichole (fiancé, Wayde Jensen) Arveson, Gabriel and Dane Arveson; sister, Mary Lou (Marvin) Wolden; mother-in-law, Maureen Kershaw; brothers-in-law, Albert G. (Colleen) Kershaw, Cecil (Zella) Kershaw, Larry Kershaw, James (Lori) Kershaw; and many cousins and family friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Marie; father-in-law, Albert H. Kershaw; and brother-in-law, Ronald Kershaw.
Visitation will be held from 4–6 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will also be held beginning at 10 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, rural Trail, with Rev. Jeffrey Merseth officiating.
The burial will be at Little Oak Cemetery.
