Elk River – Doris “Dorie” Stromberg, of Elk River, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, with loving family by her side.
Doris was born October 15, 1921, in rural Thief River Falls, to Charles and Gertie (Hagen) Carlson. She attended country school and Lincoln High School. She graduated in 1940. She attended Interstate Business College and moved to Livingston, MT where she was employed at the National Park Bank and Montana Power Co.
Doris married Reid Stromberg in 1944 in Livingston where they lived after Reid’s discharge from the Navy. In 1969 they moved to Grafton, ND where she was employed at the Bremer Bank, retiring in 1987. After her retirement, she moved to Thief River Falls.
Doris was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, and Legion Auxiliary. She was also active in Bridge clubs. She moved to Elk River Senior Living in 2018 to be near her daughters.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (John) Myrdal, Anoka, and Reida Stromberg, Webster, WI; two grandsons, Christopher (Jill) Myrdal and Benjamin (Pam) Stromberg; and four great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded by her parents; her husband, Reid Stromberg; sons, David and Thomas Stromberg; sisters, Lillian Berling, Alyce Hegland, Gladys Parenteau; and brothers, Clarence and Alton Carlson.
At Doris’ request, there will be no funeral. Burial will be at a later date in Grafton, ND.
