Richard Anderson, 79

West Fargo, ND – Richard Wayne Anderson passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 18, 2024, at his home in West Fargo, ND at the age of 79.
Richard Anderson was born September 8, 1945, in Cody, WY, the middle son of Gilmer and Frances (Skime) Anderson. He grew up on a farm north of Grygla, along with his older brother Darrel and younger brother Jerry. Richard attended schools at both Grygla and Goodridge. He continued his education at the Northwest School of Agriculture, Crookston, and Aakers Business College, Grand Forks, ND.
On August 9, 1963, Richard was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Judy Ann Miller, in New Town, ND. They made their home in Thief River Falls, where they raised their family. His hard work ethic was instilled during his formative years through experience working on farms, in construction, and in the oil fields, prior to getting a business school accounting degree. He was employed at Holcomb Accounting, later called Anderson, Poissant, Kays & Co. in Thief River Falls, from 1965 to 1995. He became a CPA and then a Partner of the firm. Into his retirement years, Richard and Judy moved to West Fargo, ND.
Richard (sometimes called “Dick” or “Red”) enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling, and golfing. Richard also was active in the Pennington County Fair Association, where he served as Sec/Treas and President for many years before he moved to ND. He enjoyed the opportunity for over 21 years of either managing or co-managing the Red River Valley Senior Men’s Golf Tour in his retirement years. For nine years, he and Judy spent their winters in Arizona. They traveled to Norway, Israel, all 50 states, plus six Canadian provinces, with cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the Panama Canal.
Richard’s faith journey includes attending the Northwoods Church near Moose River; Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla during his childhood years; and Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls as he and Judy raised their family. Richard grew in his Christian faith and love for Jesus when he and Judy became active members of Bethel Church in Fargo, ND, after moving to the area in 2002.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, Judy, of 61 years; two daughters, Jennifer (Greg) Anderson, Jodi (Tim) Kozan; and his son, Roger (Caitlin) Anderson; cherished grandchildren, Dr. Kathryn Langevin, Alexander (Britni) Langevin, Jaclyn Kozan, Jessica Kozan, Justine (Kaden) Angell, Ella Anderson, and Brynn Anderson; step-grandchildren, Amanda (Kevin) Downing, and Savannah Berry; along with three precious great-grandchildren, Kohen, Kylen and Kolten (step-grandchild); in addition, Richard’s oldest brother, Darrel Anderson (Suzanne Scott); and sister-in-law, Karen Anderson.
He was preceded in death by an infant child, Richie Anderson; parents, Gilmer and Frances (Skime) Anderson; brother, Jerry Anderson; and sister-in-law, Myrna Anderson.
Richard was very proud of his children and the lives they have made for themselves. Rest in peace, Dad. Becoming a grandfather expanded his legacy by opening his heart to experience more joy. “Bop,” you will be missed dearly and we love you very much.
Thanks to all the nurses and staff at Essentia Oncology Department and the Sanford Fargo Hospice Team for their kind and compassionate care.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
