Roseau – Sharyl Kay Sunsdahl, 84, of Roseau, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Roseau LifeCare Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Sharyl was born on July 15, 1940, in Grygla, to Adelbert Hesse and Ruth Hook. She grew up in the area and graduated from Goodridge High School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Church.
Throughout her life, Sharyl dedicated herself to her work at Thief River Falls Medical Center, Arctic Cat, and Marvin’s. She was known for her creativity and enjoyed painting, quilting, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. She also had a love for watching Jeopardy! with her beloved dog, Sal.
She is survived by her children, Shelly (Tom) Nelson of Baudette, Richard (Carla) Sunsdahl of Badger, and Roy (Mary) Sunsdahl of Salol. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Garrett Nelson, Whitney Nelson, Garrett Anhorn, Brody Anhorn, Logan Sunsdahl, Shanda Christofferson, and Cory Christofferson; as well as two great-grandchildren, Miller and Adalyn. Sharyl is also survived by her siblings, Ronald, Donald, Chucky, Morralee, Shirley, Adele, Paulene, and Rhonda; along with many nieces and nephews.
Sharyl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin Holver Sunsdahl; her children, Ricky and Valerie; her sister Susan; and her very special dog, Sal.
Sharyl’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A service for Sharyl will be held at Ecklund Lutheran Church in the spring.
