Roseau – It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Gary Lee Wilson on March 25, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
Gary was born September 6, 1955, to William Jr. and Maybelle (Schaller) Wilson. He grew up on the farm with brothers Allen and Ward, being baptized at Pauli Lutheran Church and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Greenbush High School in 1973, and UMC in 1975. He was involved with the dairy herd early on and continued to merchandise cattle to where Rock-Wills Holsteins was well known in the 5-state dairy industry.
Gary married his soulmate, Vickie Lynn Johnston, on June 4, 1977 in Angus. This union was blessed with three wonderful sons, Mark William, Jeffrey Gary, and Richard Gene. Now Gary is reunited with his only daughter Jodi Jean in heaven.
After moving to Roseau in 2015, he enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors each morning, solving all the world’s problems over many cups of coffee. His afternoons were spent golfing or playing multiple hands of pinochle at the Senior Center. He was so proud and closely followed all the grandkids’ activities. It didn’t make any difference whether it was basketball, football, golf, baseball, band, or learning the rules of lacrosse and tennis; he was one of their biggest fans!
Gary is survived by his wife, Vickie, and their family; their sons, Mark and Aimee have children Max and Bryn; Jeffrey and Stephanie have children Kyser, Paxton, Tayia and Kash; and Richard and Allison have children Ryker and Maverick. He is also survived by his brother, Ward; and half-siblings, Weldon Wilson and Arlene Olson.
Services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 2 p.m.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 5–7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., also at the church.
