Holt – Wilbert “Bob” Duane Skoglund, age 96, of Holt, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Karlstad Senior Living in Karlstad.
Born on December 5, 1928, in Foldahl Township, MN, Bob was the beloved son of E.M. “Manny” Skoglund and Anna Victoria (Anderson) Skoglund.
Bob was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church, where his faith remained a guiding light throughout his life. He completed his education through the eighth grade and spent his working years owning and operating his own construction company. Bob was known for his quiet diligence and integrity.
Beyond his work in construction, Bob had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and mechanics. He found joy in rebuilding tractors, constructing intricate model airplanes, and even piloting real ones. His love of flight was matched only by his fascination with how things worked. Whether in the sky or in his workshop, Bob approached every project with patience, precision, and a quiet sense of wonder.
Music was a big part of his life; Bob played accordion, guitar, mandolin, banjo, steel guitar, violin, piano and enjoyed playing with area bands. He was well known for his love of music. Bob was also an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and excitement in deer hunting and fishing.
He married Arlene Skoglund (Horien), and together they built a life filled with love, resilience, and devotion to family. Though he endured the heartbreaking loss of his wife and children, Randy, Ryan, and Robyn, Bob remained a source of strength and warmth to those around him.
Bob is survived by his granddaughters, Aspyn, Asiah, and Ashley; great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will remember him for his gentle spirit, subtle humor, and unwavering kindness.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene; his children; his sisters, Marlys Langowski and Lucille Rakowski; and his brother, Vernon Skoglund.
Visitation will begin at noon, with the service to celebrate Bob’s life at 1 p.m., on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, with Shawn Wagner officiating.
Burial will follow at Holt Cemetery in Holt.
Bob’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace, reunited with those he loved.
