Fort Myers, FL – Richard Ness, of Fort Myers, Florida, and Washington, D.C., passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, in Tampa, Florida, surrounded by his family.
Born on September 27, 1949, in Holt, Minnesota, Richard spent much of his life working and living in Indonesia, where he played a leading role in developing and expanding mining operations across the country.
In recent years, he found great joy in fishing with his sons, grandchildren, and friends.
Richard was first married to Darlene Kroshus, with whom he shared four children: Eric, Bryan, Aaron, and Patrick. He later married Novayati Amilia Ness, and together they built a life with their son, Maesa.
He is survived by his wife, Nova; his sons, Eric, Bryan, Aaron, Patrick, and Maesa; and his cherished grandchildren: Tatum, Elijah, Vera, Monica, Theodore, and Daniel.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Bertil and Carrie; his two sisters, Carol and JoAnn; and his granddaughter, Isabella.
A funeral service was held at Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center, followed by burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to friends and loved ones for their kindness and support.
