Plummer – Russell Jasperson, of Plummer, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at First Care Living Center in Fosston, at the age of 85.
Russell Twain Jasperson was born on February 25, 1940, on his grandpa’s farm in Mayfield Township, Pennington County, where he continued to live and work all his life.
He attended country school for a few years and Lincoln High School, graduating in 1958.
On December 20, 1996, Russell was united in marriage to Shirley Dahle at Red Lake Falls. The couple made their home on the Jasperson farm near Plummer, where they resided for 19 wonderful years.
Russell enjoyed listening to old-time music every Sunday, going out for supper, lutefisk suppers, traveling following the Cathy Erickson band as well as other old-time music bands, and he always made time to visit with family and friends.
He farmed several different crops, raised milk cows and beef cattle. Russell loved horses of any breed which he trained to be used as teams for farm work and enjoyment. Russell’s horse-driven hayrides along with Shirley’s homemade treats made several wonderful memories for all the family. Russell’s hobby was, “Being a horse jockey.”
Russell is survived by stepchildren, Sherryl Hansen and Mike and Julie Dahle; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Brad Naplin, Kristina Dahle, Johnathan Dahle, Logan Dahle, Dylan Dahle, and Cambrie Russell. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Russell is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley; step son-in-law, Bob Hansen; step great-grandson, Devin Dahle; parents, William and Annie Jasperson; four sisters, Vivian, Florence (Flossy), Violet (Shirley), and LaVonne; three brothers, Louie, Chet, and Slim; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Pastor Ollie Urdahl officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at Johnson Funeral Service.
