Thief River Falls – “Bold power and glorious majesty are wrapped around her as she laughs with joy over the latter days. Her teachings are filled with wisdom and kindness as loving instruction pours from her lips. She watches over the ways of her household and meets every need they have. Her sons and daughters arise in one accord to extol her virtues, and her husband arises to speak of her in glowing terms. ‘There are many valiant and noble ones, but you have ascended above them all!’” (Proverbs 31:25-29)
Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marilyn Ann Hudson, transitioned to Glory in the early hours of January 20, 2026.
Marilyn Ann Eastman was born on December 22, 1930, to Morris and Frances (Renstrom) Eastman in Willmar. She was raised in Blomkest, MN and graduated from Willmar High School in 1948. Marilyn went on to attend Bethel College in St. Paul, and received her teaching certificate from St. Cloud college in 1951.
She married Garland Hudson on June 10, 1953. They soon started a family and began accepting pastoring positions, with Marilyn becoming an incredible support to the ministry. Three sons were added, then daughter-in-laws, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Marilyn was always quick to minister to those in need, often accompanied with a note of encouragement and a meal. She had a gentle spirit, a loving heart and was filled with wisdom, grace, kindness and beauty.
She was a woman of deep and abiding faith, loved the Word of God, and was a steadfast woman of prayer. She loved deeply, freely and was devoted to her family and friends. Marilyn had a mischievous grin, and the most contagious Swedish belly laugh that still echoes in our minds and hearts.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 74 years, Garland; her three sons, Steven (Joan), Kent (Janell) and Michael; grandchildren, Erika Hudson and Andrew (Tirzah) Hudson; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Hudson, Maejor Hudson, and Hadassah Hudson; sisters, Darlene Reimnitz and Janet Nyholm; and many nieces nephews and friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Morris Eastman; two siblings, Marvis Anderstrom and Arnold (Arne) Eastman; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Hudson.
The family would like to thank the Thief River Care Center for their outstanding care for Marilyn over the last three years. And to the Hospice staff – your care, kindness and gentleness made such a difference.
A private memorial service for family will be held at a later date.
