Glenwood – Michelle “Micki” Morrissey, age 68, of Glenwood, died surrounded by family on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
Michelle “Micki” Marie Morrissey was born to Ronald and Celeste (Pierce) Gerardy on November 23, 1957, in Thief River Falls. She was the second born of six children and grew up in a home filled with the values of hard work, family, and faith. She spent her childhood in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1976.
After high school, Micki was employed at Northern State Bank, where she met James “Jim” Morrissey, beginning a partnership that would last a lifetime. On August 11, 1984, they were united in marriage in Thief River Falls. Their marriage was blessed with three children. After their marriage, they lived in Thief River Falls until moving to Parkers Prairie in 1986. In 1992, they made their home in Glenwood when Jim accepted a position with Glenwood State Bank.
Micki devoted many years to caring for children as a daycare provider in Parkers Prairie and Glenwood. Her nurturing spirit was also evident in her work at Glenwood Retirement Village, and later as a Paraprofessional at Minnewaska Area High School until she retired in 2018.
Her faith was central to her life. Growing up, Micki belonged to St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, and in Glenwood she was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was especially active in the church community and served as youth director for many years. Her faith was paramount, followed closely by her family, and she lived each day in a way that reflected her deep Christian beliefs.
Micki will be remembered for her strong Christian faith, her kindness, her generosity, and the quiet strength with which she cared for others. Micki found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She enjoyed reading and baking, and she especially cherished time spent with her family.
