    Elk River – Raymond “Slim” Halvorson, 91, of Elk River, formerly of Thief River Falls joined his wife, Dorothy, in heaven on January 21, 2018.
    A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Central Lutheran Church in Elk River, followed by a private interment.
    Slim grew up on a small farm in Viking and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII, part of the Greatest Generation. After the war, he worked for the Soo Line railroad, then worked for the Thief River Municipal Power Plant until his retirement.
    Slim enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, eating, and being with family.
    Ray is survived by his daughter, Diane (Jim) Peterson; grandchildren: Joel (Heidi), Eric (Jessica), Brian (Lindsay), and Paul (C.J.), great-grandchildren: Tanner, Sidney, Caden, Bennett, Jonas, Piper, Brooke, and Clara, also Lee Wilhelm and family.
    Memorials preferred to Guardian Angels Hospice, Guardian Angels Care Center or Central Lutheran Church.
