Pengilly – Gerry C. Rude, 82, of Pengilly, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Fairview University Medical Center in Hibbing.
Gerry lived a full and happy life surrounded by his family and friends. He entered the world in Roseau on September 29, 1935 to Manuel and Jeanie May Rude. After graduating from Goodridge High School in 1953, Gerry enlisted in the Air Force, he had many crazy adventures over the course of his four-year service. In 1957, Gerry received an Honorable discharge and pursued an electrical degree at Dunwoody Institute. He furthered his skill set and pursued a degree for Auto Body Repair at Thief River Falls Vocational School. Armed with a trade, Gerry set off on another adventure.
Over several years, Gerry traveled the country perfecting his electrician trade. His rambling days soon came to an end, and on the 8th of June, 1968, Gerry and Joycelyn Nyhus were married. After settling down, he worked as a millwright for Eveleth Tac until his retirement in 1997. Through the years, Gerry had many passions, tinkering with classic vehicles, woodworking, playing cribbage, fishing, and becoming Calumet Library’s biggest fan. Although, Gerry had many passions, his biggest passion was spending time with his family.
Gerry will be truly missed by his wife of 49 years, Joycelyn Nyhus Rude; his children: Cindy Noble Altman (Wayne), Mark Walls, Karen Howard, Pennie Rude, Jerry Rude (Jill), and Misti Cooper (Dewey). His passion for life, and a hint of stubbornness will carry on through his grandchildren: Jacob Noble, Chase Noble, Amanda Noble, Tanner Walls, Shane Walls, Adam Rude, Nathan Rude and four great-grandchildren.
Staying true to Gerry’s wishes, he will be placed to rest in June 2018, with a graveside burial followed by a good old fashion barbecue to celebrate his life. Please send condolences to: 30854 Louise Ave. Pengilly, MN 55775.
