Middle River – Beverly Erickson, 74, of Middle River, died peacefully in her sleep at Altru Hospital on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River. Interment will follow at the Spruce Valley Cemetery in Middle River.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.
Beverly Lyda Anderson Erickson was born on February 4, 1944 in Thief River Falls, to Harvey and Florence (Moen) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden.
Bev attended school in Newfolden and completed the cosmetology program at the AVTI in 1981 and she earned her GED in 2003.
Bev worked during several potato harvests, owned the pool hall in Newfolden, worked at several area restaurants, the turkey plant and lastly Digi-Key, retiring in 2016.
Bev was united in marriage to Milton Erickson on May 27, 1961 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden and they had three children: Jeff, Jane, and Jason. They bought a farm in rural Newfolden where they raised their children, farmed, and had livestock.
Bev’s hobbies included spending time with family and friends. She loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Nana also looked forward to having her granddaughter, Tarson, spend Friday night and sometimes the entire weekend at her house. Since retirement, she enjoyed taking Tarson to ball games, practices, and swimming lessons.
Bev also enjoyed playing cards and games, crossword puzzles, electronic solitaire, and going out to eat with friends and family. She also enjoyed several trips with family to AK, SD, MT, and AZ.
Bev was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Ladies’ Aide in Newfolden and recently joined First Lutheran Church in Middle River.
Survivors include her children, Jeff (Arlene) Erickson of North Pole, AK, Jane (Mark) Schaumburg of Thief River Falls, and Jason (Tara) Erickson of Newfolden; grandchildren, Amanda Erickson, Shayla Erickson, David Erickson, Matthew (Mallory) Schaumburg, Amanda (Derrick) Klein, Emma Dagenais, SkyeLyn Dagenais and Tarson Erickson; great-grandchildren, Ryer, Brantley, Mikey, Jake, and Chris; brother, Harlan (Geraldine) Anderson of Hardin, MT; sisters-in-law, Mary Anderson of Newfolden, Mae Borreson of Strathcona, Vic Waage of Greenbush, Lillian Howdahl of Greenbush, and Roma Erickson of Thief River Falls; several nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces; several other relatives and many friends.
Bev is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dean Anderson; grandson, Ty Schaumburg; nephews, Ja Anderson and Robert Kasprowicz; sister-in-law, Jeanette Kasprowicz; brothers-in-law Selmer Waage, Ingvald Borreson, Walter Kasprowicz, Harold Howdahl and Bob Stauffenecker; several great-nephews and a great-niece.
