Buffalo – Lorraine Mae Grondahl, 83, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. A second funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. Interment to follow at Holt Cemetery, Holt.
Lorraine was born on May 1, 1934 in Reno, NV to Kenneth and Helen Russell. She attended country school and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1951, in Thief River Falls. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for Land ‘O Lakes.
On June 7, 1953, Lorraine married Dale Grondahl. She worked alongside Dale in their farming operations near Middle River and Red Lake Falls. Later they moved to Buffalo and Lorraine put her meticulous bookkeeping skills to work at Midland Cooperative and the books for Dale’s business. She also was involved is various women’s activities, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at the churches she attended particularly Zion Lutheran in Buffalo.
Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She found great delight and joy spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and tending her garden.
Lorraine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dale; daughters, Deb (Bill) Jordt of Westfield, IA, Kathy Holen of Clear Lake, SD, Kim (Richard) Paulson of Maple Lake; son, Loren Grondahl of Buffalo; grandchildren, Allan Paulson (Krystal Joos) of Moorhead, Wyat Grondahl (Alexis Stanlake) of Buffalo and Chase Grondahl of Buffalo; great-grandchildren Jack and Maggie Paulson; sister, Betty Larson of New Rockford, ND, brother-in-law, Henry Panek of Thief River Falls; sisters-in-law, Eleanor McMillan of St. Cloud, Delphine Swan of Cleveland, Sandy (Lynn) Underberg, Salem, OR, and Sharon Russell of Thief River Falls; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Emily Jordt; brothers, Maurice and Bruce Russell; sister, Marjorie Panek; son-in-law, Orvie Holen; and brother-in-law and niece, Wendel and Wendy Swan.
