Wayne Wagner, 62

Middle River – Wayne Wagner, 62 of Middle River, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, with Rev. Mary Lundquist officiating. Burial will be at the Evangelical Free Cemetery, rural Middle River. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River.
Wayne Christ Wagner was born on April 18, 1955 in Thief River Falls, the son of John Albert and Bernice Lorraine (Sostad) Wagner. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Middle River. He attended K – 12th grade in Middle River, graduating from Middle River High School with the class of 1973.
Following graduation, Wayne worked on the family farm. From 1986 – 2008, he worked at Marvin Windows in Warroad and from 2008 – 2016, he worked at Central Boiler in Greenbush. All the while, he continued to help his brother, Bruce, on the family farm.
Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, snowcatting, playing cards and going to auction sales.
Wayne was a hard-working, fun-loving man who enjoyed time with his family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.
Survivors include his mother, Bernice Wagner of Middle River; brother, Bruce Wagner of Middle River; sisters, Lois (Dave) Barth of Warroad, Valerie (Larry) Nesteby of Greenbush, Karen (Norm) Opdahl of Middle River, Sandra Olson of Thief River Falls; sisters-in-law, Patty Wagner and Clarine Wagner; aunt, Anne (Gene) Peterson; uncle, Dale Sostad; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Wayne is preceded in death by his father, John; brothers, Roger and LeRoy; grandparents, William and Ida (Paetznik) Wagner, Christ and Helen (Anderson) Sostad, Gertrude (Gasper) Lunsford; niece, Jessica Nesteby; several aunts; uncles and cousins.
