Stanley A. Johnson, 72

St. Hilaire – Stanley Johnson passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Black River Lutheran Church near St. Hilaire. Burial will be held at Black River Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 5 – 8 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Stanley Allan Johnson was born December 2, 1945 son of Norman T. and Juliet T. (Neste) Johnson at Grand Forks, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at Black River Church. He attended Elementary School in St. Hilaire and attended Lincoln High School, graduating in 1963. He attended AVTI in Thief River Falls, graduating with a degree in Airline Mechanics.
Stanley entered the US Army March 26, 1965 and served his country honorably until being discharged on March 7, 1968.
Following the honorable discharge Stanley returned to St. Hilaire. Stan worked for Northern Chevrolet in Thief River Falls and was a brick layer for Noreen Masonry. Over the many years he worked for Cardocks Chemical, St. Hilaire Supply and since 1975 for Thygeson Trucking and Construction as an over the road trucker, logging over 4 million miles.
Stan was blessed with daughter Sara on October 20, 1975. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, he loved to tease his nieces, nephews and siblings. He enjoyed deer hunting, racing, gardening, watching sporting events and cutting wood. He was a member of the Eagles, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, Northwest Turkey Federation, MN Deer Hunters, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ruffed Grouse Society, 30 years on the St. Hilaire Fire Department and the St. Hilaire Deer Hunters.
Stan is survived by his life partner Kaye Turnwall; siblings Theodore “Ted” of Las Vegas, NV, Danny (Bonnie) of East Grand Forks, Gary “Duke” (Sue) of Thief River Falls, Richard “Rick” (Linda) of Glen Rock, WY, Jaye of Ojai, CA, Lenny (Teresa) of Thief River Falls, Judy (Terry) Nelson of Thief River Falls, LouAnn (David) Ellingson of Battle Lake, Fay Johnson of Thief River Falls, and Tammy (Ray) Swick of Thief River Falls; daughters Roberta (Kevin) Walz and Tracy (Jeremy) Folland; grandchildren Devin, Derrick, Dalton, Beau and Ben, Mari and Ty; Aunts Yvonne Thorson and Yvonne Neste; Uncle Dale Aeschliman; sisters-in-law Marie Steffen, Joan Gehels, June Kasprowicz, Lois Kleinvachter, brother-in-law Matt Hammer; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sara Corneliusen; brother Terry, infant sister; sisters-in-law Marina Johnson and Judy Kuster, brothers-in-law Lloyd Steffen, Al Gehrls and Roger Kasprowicz; and niece Michelle Kuster.
