Ronald T. Freyholtz, 80

Red Lake Falls – Ronald Freyholtz of Red Lake Falls passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Pioneer Memorial Care in Erskine at the age of 80.
Funeral Service was held Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer. Burial followed at Emardville Cemetery, Emardville Township, Red Lake County.
Ronald Theodore Freyholtz was born on June 11, 1937 on the farm in Wellington Township, Fairfax, the son of Raymond and Ethel (Bleick) Freyholtz. As a youngster he attended school in Fairfax.
In 1953 Ronnie’s family moved to a farm near Bejou, where he farmed with his family.
From 1960-1962 Ronnie served in the US Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany and Fort Bliss, TX.
On June 11, 1965, Ron was united in marriage to Darlene Joanne Barker at the Methodist Church in Olivia. They moved to a farm near Fosston, MN, where they made their new home. At the time Darlene had four children from a previous marriage. In 1969, Darlene and Ron adopted their son Shane.
They lived on the farm near Fosston until 1973, when they purchased a dairy farm near Red Lake Falls, where he has since lived.
While living near Plummer, Ron served on the Plummer School Board, served as American Legion Commander, was a member of the Minnesota State High School League Committee, served on the board of directors for the Plummer Co-op Creamery, as well as Land O’ Lakes.
Ronnie enjoyed traveling and made trips to Germany, Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, and Texas. He also enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, trapping, flea markets, parades, and watching sports. Every Fourth of July Ronnie marched in the Color Guard for the parade in Plummer and other local communities.
Ronald is survived by children, Chuck (Karen) Friedley, Elk River, Loree Friedley, Austin, TX, Donna (Ward) Arntson, Phoenix, AZ, Denise Konickson, Fargo, ND and Shane (Melissa) Freyholtz, Red Lake Falls; 12 grandchildren, Mike and Douglas Friedley, Lawrence and Leila Hoodye, Edward, Allison, Aaron and Martha Jo Arntson, Laura, Ashley and Matt Konickson and Grayson, Kannen, and Judd Freyholtz; special companion, Mickey Duden of Plummer; sisters and brother, Lila (Sam) Lang of Bejou, Marlin Freyholtz of Seward, AK, and Darlene (Art) Ferguson of Rio Hondo, TX.
He is preceded in death by his wife Darlene; his parents; brothers, Bobby, Maynard, Eugene, and Ervin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Plummer American Legion.
