Lyle D. Newton, 65

Grygla – Lyle Newton, 65, of Grygla, died peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Olaf Cemetery in Grygla.
Lyle Delane Newton was born June 8, 1952 in Thief River Falls, the son of Norman Ordean and Lillian P. (Sorenson) Newton. He was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Grygla and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla. Lyle graduated from Goodridge High School in 1970. He was known as “Isaac” to many throughout his life.
On October 18, 1972 Lyle entered into service with the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He earned the rank of SP4 and was Honorably Discharged on September 1, 1974.
Lyle worked at May Corporation in Grygla, he also worked in Montana and North Dakota on the pipeline, worked carpentry with Ralph Smith and Arnie Englund, did farm work for Schmidt Farms and most recently worked for the City of Grygla.
Lyle enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, sudoko, playing cards especially pinochle, hunting, and fishing.
Lyle was a member of the American Legion Post 162 in Grygla.
Survivors include his daughter Michelle (Lunsetter) (Mark) Stotts of Greenbush; granddaughter, Katie Jo Lunsetter; great-grandchildren, Awbree, Haven and Faith; siblings, Dale (Mavis) Newton, Rodney Newton, Cathy Newton, Dannie Newton and Lisa Swanson; and many other relatives and friends.
Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother-in-law, Tim Swanson; and niece Sara Corneliusen.
