Joyce A. Lane Whaley, 91

Tucson, AZ – Joyce Ann Lane Whaley, 91, of Tucson, AZ , formerly of Thief River Falls, passed away on March 19, 2018 at Atrium Assisted Living in Tucson, AZ.
A private Celebration of Life was held by friends at Tohono Chul Park in Tucson on March 29th. An additional family Celebration in Thief River Falls is yet to be scheduled.
Joyce Ann Lane was born on September 10, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Eckard and Nada (Olsen) Lane. Shortly thereafter, the family moved back to Thief River Falls to be close to family.
Joyce attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1945. After graduation, Joyce began her adventures living in Minneapolis, Atlanta, Phoenix and finally settling in Tucson, Arizona.
Joyce married the love of her life, Norman P. Whaley on May 25, 1962 in Tucson, AZ.
Joyce had a variety of jobs in her working career; O & M Elevator, 1st Federal Savings and Loan, Pima College, The Haunted Book Shop and finally, in retirement, she had her own business researching out of print
books.
Joyce loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She especially liked to host Thanksgiving in her home. She and her husband shared a love of nature, travel, hiking and mountain climbing. She was a voracious reader and collected many signed books. She was also an avid supporter of Tohono Chul Park in Tucson where she often volunteered.
Joyce is survived by sisters-in-law; Sondra Lane and Joan Lane as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Norm, on April 7, 2003; parents Eckard and Nada (Olsen) Lane, brothers, Burton, William, Richard, Russell and Wallace, sisters-in-law; Genevieve and Gladys as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. A00003B2018MY02
