Randy Duane Skoglund was born on October 28, 1952 in Thief River Falls. The son of Bob and Arlene (Horien) Skoglund. Randy grew up in Holt and graduated from Newfolden High School. After graduating, he served in the National Guard.
From the Guard, Randy went to work for his father in the construction business – building houses. Later on, he started his own cabinet business. A few years later, Randy met his best friend Charito Michaela “Jean” Linsangan. After, they wed on April 28, 1995 in Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. They opened up an Oriental Furniture Store along side of the cabinets he built.
Together, Randy and Jean ran both businesses until 2001 when early retirement was in order due to Randy’s health. He got lung cancer, then brain cancer. Randy’s wife, Jean, faithfully cared for her good, caring and loving husband and best friend, Randy. Riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, bird watching, rooting for the Vikings, and building model airplanes, miniature covered wagons were Randy’s favorite passions.
Randy’s family agrees that without Lord Jesus Christ and Dr. Luis Jain from the Roseau Hospital – Randy would not have survived the past 16 years. A big Thank You to all of the doctors and nurses of the hospitals, and to all of the staff of Thief River Care Center.
