Middle River – Thomas Fillmore, 78, passed away on Friday July 27, 2018, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt,. Burial will be held at the Holt Cemetery, Holt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 5 – 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Thomas Edward Fillmore was born August 16, 1939 at Roseau, son of Rufus and Bessie (Evans) Fillmore. He was raised at South Junction, Manitoba, Canada and attended school there. He worked on the home farm and cut pulp.
Thomas worked for the Canadian National Rail Road. He worked for Prichard Brothers Construction, Hydra Mac, Arctic Cat and for the past many years worked at Forsberg Inc until his retirement.
On September 18, 1965 Thomas was united in marriage to Ione Nanet Olson at Pine Grove Church at Pencer. To this union four children were born: Charlene, Shelly, Todd and Mike. The couple made their home in Canada for a few years, in 1969 they moved to rural Middle River.
Thomas enjoyed farming, and spending time with his cattle, hunting, fishing, playing the lottery, coin collecting, discussing politics, and spending time with his dog Rover. Most of all he loved the time with his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the NRA.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ione; children Charlene Hestekind of Newfolden, Shelly (Chad) Peters of Viking, Todd (Kathy) Fillmore of Middle River and Mike (Allison) Fillmore of Middle River; grandchildren Jessica, Kyle and Emily Hestekind, Cody (Stephanie), Ayden, Maverick, and Stephie Peters, Beth, Maggie Zavoral, Sarah and Luke Fillmore, Bodhi Fillmore; one great-grandchild on the way; sister Ada (John) Ford of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada; along with several nieces and nephews.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, brothers William and Douglas Fillmore, sisters Maude and Gladys and seven infant siblings.
