Thief River Falls – Yvonne Suronen, of Thief River Falls, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Thief River Falls. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held on Friday 4 – 6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Yvonne Marie Suronen was born November 2, 1943 in Ada, daughter of the late Lawrence “Bud” and Thelma (Vigessa) Manning. She was baptized in Grand Forks, ND and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. She attended Washington School, Northrup School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961.
On July 13, 1963 Yvonne was united in marriage to James Roger Suronen in Thief River Falls. To this union 5 children were born Jannette, Douglas, Robert, Krista and Daniel. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Yvonne worked at Ben Franklin, Tastee Freeze, Arctic Cat, Black Magic and for 13 years at K Mart.
Yvonne was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, spider solitaire, traveling to Florida, Texas, Iowa to visit siblings and Colorado to visit her son and his family. Most of all she loved the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Yvonne is survived by her children Jannette Ranae Suronen, Douglas James (Terri) Suronen and Daniel Scott (Amber) Suronen all of Thief River Falls and Robert Lawrence (Jenifer) Suronen of Parker, CO; grandchildren Derek Suronen, Brandon Chasse, Tanner Voeller, Kyler Voeller, Malachi Tysk, Davin Suronen and Dalton Suronen; siblings Duane (Dee) Manning of Georgia, Shirley (special friend Bob) Porter of Fort Worth, TX, Gerald (Beth) Manning of Des Moines, IA, Peggy Clow of Thief River Falls, along with several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Carol Suronen.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband James Suronen, daughter Krista Suronen-Voeller, brothers Robert “Butch” Manning and Rocky Manning and brother-in-law Gary Clow.
