Ronald “Ron” Timm, of Newfolden, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Grand Forks, ND, with his loving family by his side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Rick Lambert Presiding. Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
Ronald Edward Timm, the son of Gustave Timm and Annabel (Bergquist) Timm Olson was born on January 7, 1949 in Thief River Falls. Ron attended various schools and graduated from Mt. Iron High School in 1967 and immediately joined the United States Army. He proudly served his country from 1967 to 1971, spending some time in Germany.
On September 28, 1968 Ron was united in marriage to Renae Larson at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls and this union blessed them with five children. Shortly after marriage Ron was stationed in Colorado Springs, CO. After completing his service in the Army the family moved back to the Thief River Falls area where he held a position on the police department until 1979.
The family then moved to Viking, where Ron spent a few years traveling to Drayton with his brother-in-laws to work at American Crystal Sugar Beet plant. In 1985 Ron accepted a position with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and soon after purchased his home in Newfolden, which he completely rebuilt and remodeled with the help of his family.
Ron had many past times and hobbies he enjoyed throughout life; hunting, camping, fishing and walking the trails in the state parks were always his outdoors pleasures. He also enjoyed bingo and loved nothing more than spending time with his family…especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They always made him smile.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Renae of Newfolden; children, Brian Timm of Newfolden, Jaci (Marc) Pfau of Fargo, ND, Shane (Heidi) Timm of Newfolden, Shari (Hays) Huddleston of Loman, Wendy (Aaron) Goff of Warren; grandchildren, Kayla (Donald) Porter of Grand Forks, ND, Krista (Travis) Martin of Windom, Sara Timm of Thief River Falls, Kjersten Timm and Justin Timm of Newfolden, Michael Anderson of Grand Forks, ND, Kari Sulze and Miranda Sulze of Thief River Falls, Jeremy Goff and Viktoriya Goff of Warren; great-grandchildren, Kaden and Easton Porter, Khloey and Brinley Martin, Zoey and Sawyer Sulze; brothers and sisters, Jan (Gary) Logan of Mountain Home, ID, Carol Sorenson of Mountain Home, ID, John (Annette) Timm of Thief River Falls, Ken Timm of Moose Lake, Mary (Paul) Ekren of Warren, Linda Olson of Thief River Falls, Edward (Kathy) Timm of Kensington, and Russell Olson of Thief River Falls; uncle, Jim Meide of Mountain Home, ID; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Timm; and sister, Ann Brosseau.
