Stanley L. Wik, 89

Stanley Wik, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 09, 2018 at the Karlstad Health Care Center, Karlstad.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, with Rev. Frank Ehling officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Hilaire Community Cemetery, St. Hilaire.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at the church.
Stanley LeRoy Wik, the son of Sigurd Peter and Louise J. (Rosette) Wik was born on April 12, 1929 in Rocksbury Township, near St. Hilaire. On June 9, 1929 he was baptized at the St. Hilaire Norwegian Lutheran Church. Stanley was confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire. Stanley attended country schools in St. Hilaire.
Stanley entered the United States Army on January 16, 1951 and was honorably discharged on June 21, 1952. After being discharged he continued to farm with his father near St. Hilaire until 1974.
In 1974 Stanley started working at Northern Pride – formerly known as Land O’ Lakes, retiring in 2000.
Stanley was a lifetime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire and the American Legion Post #117 in Thief River Falls and an active member of the St. Hilaire Lions Club.
Stanley loved card games, watching sports – especially the Twins. He was a member of several bowling leagues for many years. Stanley enjoyed being with relatives and sharing holidays with them. He never missed sending a card to family and friends on their birthday.
Stanley moved to Valley Home in 2000 due to his health. He lived there until 2018, and has spent the last 6 months in the Karlstad Nursing Home because of failing health and to be closer to his niece and caregiver, Julie.
Stanley is survived by his sister-in-law, Lorraine Wik; nephews and niece, Greg Wik, Julie Wik-Byre, Steven Borsheim, David Borsheim, and Thomas Borsheim; and several cousins.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Wik and Leonard Wik and sister, Helen Borsheim; nephew, Galen Wik.
