The Thief River Falls cross country teams kicked off the 2019 season with the Thief River Falls Sports Boosters Invitational on Thursday, Aug. 29, on a course that started and ended at the Multi-Events Center in Thief River Falls.
A one-two punch o
f Jerzie Finstad and Dru Harbott led the Thief River Falls girls team to a runner-up finish. Finstad won the meet, with a time of 20:44.55, while Harbott took third overall with a time of 21:36.87.
The win was Finstad’s third in the event. She also took home first place honors in 2016 and 2017, and both of those seasons ended in trips to t
he state cross country meet. Also scoring on the girls team were Kelsey Baltes in 13th place, Kathryn Aldag in 14th and Cassandra Billingsley in 25th.
Jake Davis pace
d the Thief River Falls Boys Team with a fifth place finish and time of 18:09.68. Daniel Quick and Jonah Kalsnes finished 15th and 16th, respectively. Isaac Mauch was 18th and Paul Koppenhaver rounded out the five scorers for Thief River Falls with a 22nd place finish.
Overall, the Thief River Falls Boys Team finished third in the five-team field.
