Wyatt Rogers of Hulbert, Okla., was the big winner at the 2023 edition of Thunder on Hooves held Friday and Saturday at the Pennington County Fairgrounds Grandstand. Rogers rode three bulls over the course of the two-night event, totalling 83.0, 82.5, and 88.5 points, respectively for a total aggregate score of 254.0.
Alan de Souza, Taubate, Sao Paulo, Brazil, had the highest ride score of the event – an 89.5 Saturday night, but his two other rides – 80.5 and 78.5 – were not able to match the rides put up by Rogers as he settled for second place with an aggregate total of 248.5.
Andrew Alvidrez, Seminole, Texas, and Colten Fritzlan, Rifle, Colo., shared third place honors with aggregate scores of 170.5. Both competitors rode two bulls, with Alvidrez scoring 84.0 and 86.5 on his rides, and Fritzlan scoring 85.5 and 85.0 on his rides.
Vitor Lonsnake of Bauru, SP, Brazil, and Daylon Swearingen of Piffard, N.Y., were the only other riders to complete two rides during the event. Lonsnake posted rides scores of 85.0 and 84.5 to finish fifth with an aggregate total of 169.5; and Swearingen completed rides of 85.5 and 82.5 to finish sixth with an aggregate score of 168.0.
Rounding out the top-10 were Rafael Henrique dos Santos, Quitman, Ga., 87.0; Elijah Mora, Wiggins, Colo., 85.0; Kane Taylor, Monticello, Ark., 84.0; Losnake (second entry), 83.0; Keyshawn Whitehorse, McCracken Spring, Utah, 83.0; Davi Henrique de Lima, Cândido Mota, SP, Brazil, 83.0.
