Thief River Falls (18-8) earned the number six-seed in the upcoming Section 8AA volleyball playoffs. The Prowlers will host the 11th-seeded Pelican Rapids Vikings (8-16) on in the opening round Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.

Dilworth-Glyndon Felton (21-8) and Hawley (23-5) are the top-two seeds in the section and both teams will sit out Wednesday’s opening round with byes before hosting quarterfinal matches on Friday night.

Wadena-Deer-Creek (19-9), East Grand Forks (17-11) and Barnesville (16-10) are seeded third through fifth. Perham (10-17), Park Rapids Area (12-14), Roseau (14-12) and Frazee (12-12) are seeded seventh through 10th. Warroad, Menahga and Crookston round out the seeding in spots 12 through 14.

Thief River Falls has lost head-to-head against DGF (3-0), East Grand Forks (2-0, 2-1 and 3-0) and Barnesville (2-0), but it is a combined 7-0 against Perham, Park Rapids Area, Roseau, Frazee, Warroad and Crookston.

The Prowlers’ 18 regular season wins are the most since 2014. The 2014 Prowlers went 19-9 in the regular season before getting hot in the post season and winning a section championship.
