The Thief River Falls boys basketball team is competitive against the top teams in Section 8AA but it is having a hard time tallying wins.
The Prowlers failed to take advanted of a 20-point second half lead in a 77-71 loss to Section-leading East Grand Forks on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Bridger Wilcox and Wyatt Nelson had big nights for the Prowlers with 27 and 17 points, respectively.
Two nights later, the Prowlers were back in action at the Lincoln High School Brickhouse. against a Barnesville Trojans team that brought a 10-4 overall and 5-1 section record into the game. The Prowlers led 12-8 early but the Trojans finished the half on a 27-14 run to take a 35-26 lead into the locker room.
Wilcox, 19, Nelson, 16 and Gannon Zutz, 11, were the Prowlers’ leading scorers.
The loss was the third straight for the Prowlers, who fell to 6-6 overall and 3-5 against Section 8AA opponents.
