Julio Cesar Marques and Thiago Salgado were the big winners at the 2025 edition of Thunder On Hooves PBR Challenger Series event held Friday and Saturday, July 18-19 at the Pennington County Fairgrounds.
Cesar Marques, Tatuí, SP, Brazil, and Salgado, Naviraí, MS, Brazil, were the only bullriders to ride three bulls over the course of the two-night event.
Salagdo led the event after one night with a ride of 86.0 on the bull named Stacks, and Cesar Marques trailed by half a point after posting a score of 85.5 on the bull known as Papercut.
Cesar Marques tied with Leonardo Castro, Cassilandia, MS, Brazil, for the top score in round two at 85.0, while Salgado finished eighth in round two at 73.0.
That set up the championship round with Cesar Marques taking home the championship belt buckle with a score of 88.5 on Black Panther. Salgado was the only other rider to complete a ride in the championship round, with a score of 87.0 after riding Safety Meeting.
Rounding out the top eight based on aggregate score were defending champion Bob Mitchell, Steelville, Mo., 169; Graydon Cole, New Ringgold, Pa., 165; Brody Robinson, Galax, Va., 154; Castro, 149; Maverick Smith, Cabool, Mo., 85; Elizmar Jeremias, Anapu, PA, Brazil, 85.
