Prowlers extend winning streak to six games

Thief River Falls picked up wins over Detroit Lakes at home Thursday and added neutral site wins over Little Falls and Sartell-St. Stephen to improve to 8-1 on the season. On Thursday, the Prowlers survied a wild and windy game with Detroit Lakes. The teams combined for 11 errors in a 16-10 win for the Prowlers. The Prowlers looked like they would get an early stoppage to the game after scoring 11 runs over the course of the first four innings. The Lakers hung around, however, plating 8 runs in the top of the fifth to get back into the game. The Prowlers answered with four in the bottom of the fifth to push the lead back to seven runs. The Lakers got two more in the sixth and Prowlers answered with a run in bottom of the sixth to round out the scoring. On Friday, the Prowlers headed to Detroit Lakes to play a pair of old Section 8AAA opponents in Little Falls and Sartell. Against the Flyers, the Prowlers would get all the runs they would need in the bottom of the second inning when Alexa Rogalla would help herself with a two out triple that would score Bailey Green and Eme Gunderson. Lexi Huot followed with an RBI single for the 3-0 lead. Breanna Wienen would add to the lead in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double over the left fielders head to score Josie Davis. Alexa Rogalla was dominant on the hill in the opener of the double header, going seven innings giving up 0 runs and 1 hit while striking out nine Flyer batters. The Flyers’ lone hit would come in the top of the seventh inning, when Madison Segler would break up the no hitter with one out. The Prowler bats would get going early in the second game of the double header in Detroit Lakes. Alexa Rogalla, Lexi Huot, Camryn Schwab, Kylea Praska and Josie Davis would start the game with five straight singles. Breanna Wienen, Hannah Magnusson, and Khloe Lund would also single in the inning to give the Prowlers an early 6-0 lead. Sartell would score one run in the bottom of the first inning to cut the lead to 6-1. The Prowlers however, would score two more runs in top of the second highlighted by a Josie Davis two-run homerun. In the top of the third Camryn Schwab would give the Prowlers a 10-1 lead with another two-run homerun. Sartell would answer in the bottom of the 4th inning with 2 homeruns of their own to cut the lead to 10-7. Camryn Schwab struck again in the top of the sixth inning with her second homerun of the game. The Prowlers final run would come in the top of the seventh inning, when Alexa Rogalla drove in Khloe Lund who had doubled earlier in the inning. Lexi Huot picked up the win, going four and a third innings and Alexa Rogalla picked up the save going the last two and two-thirds innings.
