October 21st, 2024
Community Center
The school board Independent School District #561 met in regular session on Monday, October 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the community center. The following members were present: John Lovly, Neil Jensen, Joe Rubischko,Tim Hruby and Leah Bothum. Absent : Rozlynn Johnsrud. Also present: Superintendent Loberg, Principal Carlson, Business Manager Kelsie Steiger-Krein, GEA member Mrs. Andrea Halvorson, Eide Bailly member Mason Erstad and ICS Project Manager Austin May.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m by Lovly. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Jensen, to approve the October 21, 2024, meeting agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Eide Bailly member Mason Erstad provided an audit summary overview for the year ended June 30, 2024 financial audit.
ICS Project Manager Austin May presented the board with the final Construction Document Set.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Lovly, to approve the September 16th, 2024 regular meeting minutes as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Bothum, seconded by Lovly, to approve payments for checks # 46680- 46790 and wire payments as listed in report #3.1 A & B, as listed in report 3.1.1. Motion was carried unanimously.
Financial reports were reviewed. Superintendent Loberg reported the district shows an investment balance of $1,964,810.70 on September 30th, 2024. (See reports #3.0 attached to the official board minutes).

Student Council Reports:
Principal Carlson reported the Student Council has their fall summit on November 1st and they will be having an upcoming blood drive in November.
Goodridge Education Association Report:
Mrs. Andrea Halvorson reported there will be an upcoming National Honor Society Tapping Ceremony. Mrs. Andrea Halvorson reported students have been enjoying Face Painting and Tattoo Friday’s to display Charger Pride.
Classified Staff Report: None
Instructional Reports:
Principal Carlson reported that administration and staff recently met and reviewed MCA test scores, READ Act Trainings, and curriculum.

New Business:
A motion was made by Rubischko, seconded by Hruby, to authorize the transfer of funds effective immediately from the General Fun(01) to eliminate operating fund deficits, as follows: Fund 4 – Community Service $4,190. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Bothum, seconded by Jensen, to approve the fiscal year 2024 school district audit as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Hruby, seconded by Bothum, to approve waiving the 2% staff development set aside rule for 2024-2025. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Jensen, seconded by Rubischko, to approve the Construction Documents as presented in #1.4 with the authorization to proceed to the bid procurement phase. Motion carried unanimously.

Open Forum:
Member Hurby reported he thought the big buck contest was a very good idea and thoroughly enjoyed by students. Member Bothum thanked the staff for starting the idea of inviting parents/family to come have lunch with their students. Member Lovly thanked Business Manager Kelsie Steiger-Krein for consistently attending the board meetings.
Administrative Reports:
Principal Carlson reported the Veteran’s day program will be held November 12th, the speaker will be Bud Bjerklie. Principal Carlson reported Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on November 7th and 12th from 4 – 7:45 PM both nights. Principal Carlson provided the board with an update on the field trips that students will be taking in the upcoming weeks.
Superintendent Loberg thanked Member Lovly, Member Hruby, Member Jensen, and Principal Carlson for attending the City Council meeting and the positive dialogue regarding the North Osmund Street improvement. Member Lovly and Superintendent Loberg also thanked the Goodridge City Council for being open to engage in discussion and Pennington County Engineer Mike Flagan, County Commissioner Seth Nelson, and Sheriff Seth Vettleson for their support and attending as well. Superintendent Loberg gave an update on the upcoming election. Superintendent Loberg gave a fall sports update. Superintendent Loberg gave an update on elementary basketball and community ed.
The next regular meeting was set for Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
