Edina – Miriam Fjelland Penn, 64, formerly of Thief River Falls, died at home under the loving care of her family on February 28, 2007 after a courageous, two-year battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held at Cross View Lutheran Church in Edina on Sunday, March 4 at 5 p.m. Interment was held at Clark Center Lutheran Church in Clark, S.D.
Mim was a devoted and loving wife, dedicated mother, and a dear friend to many in her church and community. Her kind and generous heart, wise spirit, and compassionate soul will be missed immensely by her family and friends.
Mim was born in Clark, South Dakota on January 25, 1943, to parents Louis and Mabel Fjelland. She attended the Wallen School before traveling to Sioux Falls to attend Augustana Academy. She married John, her husband of 41 years, on August 7, 1965 in Clark. Mim and John have lived together in Thief River Falls, Eden Prairie and Hopkins.
Passionate about her children and her church, Mim was a dedicated home maker and mother during her children’s formative years. She was a Stephen Minister, Deaconess and for a time, one of the church staff at Cross View Lutheran Church where she crafted the church newsletter each month.
Mim is survived by her adoring husband John, her loving children; Anna Penn, David Penn and wife Charlotte and Timothy Penn and wife Erica, her brother Donally Fjelland and his wife Bonnie, one niece and three nephews.
