\"   Thief River Falls – Eddie Opsund, 97, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Thief River Care Center in Thief  River Falls.
  Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 6, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Casket bearers included Jon Peterson, Brian Peterson, Rod Hinrichs, Art L. Hinrichs, Ross DeMeyere and Jeff DeMeyere Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Warren.
    Eddie Opsund was born on November 13, 1909 in Warren, the son of Aslak and Annie (Myrfield) Opsund. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren and also attended school in Warren.
     Eddie was united in marriage to Rose Fillipi on October 28, 1933 in Alvarado. The couple made their home in Warren. Eddie worked for Engelstad Dairy for two years, delivering milk, and Pioneer Land and Loan Company. He then went to work for Ireland’s Lumber Yard in Warren and was employed there for 30 years. The couple moved to Thief River  Falls in 1967 and purchased the Convenience Store on 1st Street, which was known as Ed’s Food Market, and operated it until 1972. Eddie also worked for Oakland Park Nursing Home for seven years.    
    Eddie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and a former member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren. He was also a member of the Eagles in Thief River Falls.  He enjoyed fishing, making crafts and furniture and loved spending time with family.
     Eddie is survived by his wife, Rose of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Darlene (Art) Hinrichs of Thief River Falls and Bonnie (Art) DeMeyere of Fridley; four grandsons; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Knutson of Gully and Ardith Fillipi of East Grand Forks; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Opsund; brothers, Oscar Opsund and Art Lohner; and one sister, Agnes Johnson.    A00003B2007MY09″
