Some Pennington County landowners may see a change in the amount of money they pay in special assessments. At its meeting Tuesday, Aug. 12, the Pennington County Board scheduled two upcoming meetings related to the redetermination of benefits for County Ditches 46 and 70.

The county will hold an informational meeting for affected landowners Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Joint Use Facility, which is located south of Westside Motors. At that time, H2Over Viewers will talk about its study of the two ditch systems.

The county will hold a final public hearing about any redetermination of benefits for the above ditches Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. at the Justice Center. After that time, commissioners would consider those changes.

In the past, it was noted that some properties may benefit from the ditches and those landowners may not be assessed for those benefits. Along the same lines, some other properties may no longer benefit from the ditches and may still be paying into the ditch system.

County Board accepted the resignation of corrections officer Rory Hinson. Hinson has accepted employment as a Mille Lacs County sheriff’s deputy.

In separate motions, commissioners hired Kennett Kezar and Kehan Nelson as part-time corrections officers.

County Board approved the transfer of Lyle Tofstad from seasonal Highway Department employee to equipment operator.

The next County Board meeting is scheduled Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Justice Center.
