Champion Media LLC has announced leadership changes at the Thief River Falls Times.
Traci Joppru has been named publisher, and Eric “Charlie” Charlson has been named sales manager.
“As a small family company, we always love to promote from within when we can,” said Scott Champion, chief executive officer of Champion Media.
Joppru succeeds Phil Seibel, who stepped down from the position Thursday, Oct. 2 to spend more time with his family. Seibel had been the publisher since 2024.
Joppru has worked at The Times since 1995, initially working as a graphic designer and later becoming production manager. In her new role, she will supervise all departments at the business as well as continue serving current and future printing customers. Joppru is already looking forward to improving the three quality newspapers operated out of The Times’ office.
Joppru’s 30 years of experience at The Times, as well as her knowledge of the community, made her the perfect fit for the position, Champion said.
Charlson, who has worked in sales and marketing at The Times since 2023, has been appointed sales manager. Charlson looks forward to continuing to work with local businesses and getting to know the business owners who formerly worked with Seibel for their advertising needs.
Champion said, “With Charlie’s experience in the community, it made perfect sense to make him the sales manager to lead the sales charge.”
