The Pennington County Board approved the Five-Year Road and Bridge Plan at its meeting Tuesday, May 26.

Estimated to cost about $23.8 million with engineering costs included, the plan features 15 projects. The projects will be covered by a combination of local funding, state aid and federal/grant funding.

2026
• Mill and overlay of CSAH 30 (Sixth Street) from Highways 59/1 to Barzen Avenue in Thief River Falls. An underground culvert will also be replaced as part of this project
• Reconstruct two blocks in front of Goodridge School (on the south and east sides).
• Rural reconstruction of 150th Avenue from CSAHs 8 to 11. This is a Rocksbury Township project for which the county received Local Road Improvement Program funds.
• Urban reconstruction of CSAH 11 (formerly known as County Road 62) north of the Kendall Avenue curve to an area near Hanson Drive.

2027
• Mill and overlay of CSAH 22 (commonly referred to as the Kratka road) from CSAH 3 to the Marshall County line
• Replace the County Road 52 bridge 1.75 miles west of CSAH 12

2028
• Mill and overlay of CSAH 17 (commonly referred to as the airport road) from CSAHs 3 to 8
• Reconstruction (realignment) of CSAH 17 (commonly referred to as the airport road) from one mile north of CSAH 3 to CR 59
• Mill and overlay of CSAH 23 from the Red Lake County line to CSAH 3
• Mill and overlay of CSAH 3 from Highway 59 to CSAH 25

2029
• Reconstruction of Carl Street and Guinan Avenue in Goodridge
• Mill and overlay of CSAH 3 from CSAH 25 to the Beltrami County line
• Mill and overlay of CSAH 25 from the Red Lake County line to CSAH 3

2030
• Shoulder widening and overlay of CSAH 12 from the Red Lake County line to CSAH 3
• Shoulder widening and overlay of CSAH 17 from the Red Lake County line to CSAH 3

The plan was approved after a public hearing was held earlier Tuesday morning. The county isn’t required to hold a public hearing about the plan. However, it has historically hosted such a meeting.
