Thief River Falls & Grygla – Arlene Mae Clausen, of Thief River Falls, formerly of Grygla, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, at the age of 90.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls. Burial will follow at St. Petri Cemetery, Grygla.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Arlene Mae (Peterson) Clausen was born on March 26, 1927 at home in Grygla, the daughter of Lewis and Effie (Johnson) Peterson. She attended elementary school in Grygla and graduated from Goodridge High School.
Arlene was united in marriage to Lloyd “Mike” William Clausen on June 11, 1944. They made their home and farmed near Grygla where they raised their eight children. Her love of God and her family were the joys of her life.
Arlene worked as a secretary at the Goodridge High School, the Land O’ Lakes turkey plant, and Arctic Cat.
Arlene is survived by her children, Danny (Jane) Clausen of Minneapolis, Karen (Rick) Boatman of Simpsonville, SC, Bonnie (Roland) Paquin of Clayton, NC, Susan (Rich) Cwikla of West Fargo, ND, Curtis Clausen of Big Lake, and Joan (Darryl) Rice of Duluth; daughter-in-law, Barbara Clausen of Bloomington; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd “Mike” Clausen; son, Harlan and son, Jimmie and his wife Bonnie; her parents; and 6 siblings.
Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls.
