Lois Miller, 79, of Thief River Falls passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at her residence.
The graveside service will be held at Noon on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Lois Marilyn Flinn was born November 24, 1939 in Des Moines, IA the daughter of Robert and Phylis (Todd) Flinn.
Following a brief romance and wild rodeo, Lois captured the love of her life, Hershel Miller and the couple were married on October 1, 1967 in Adel, IA. They lived at Menlo, IA for a short time then moved to Dawson, IA where they purchased their first home. To this union five children were born: twins Deanna and Desiree, twins Darla and Denise, and Doyle.
In 1977, Lois and her family packed their belongings and traveled for 27 days to Soldotna, Alaska via an unpaved Alcan Highway. They enjoyed life in Alaska fishing, hunting, gold-mining, flying and raising their family. In the early 1990’s they moved to Bagley, for about three years, then to Minot, ND, Grand Forks, ND and settled in Thief River Falls, in 2016.
Lois was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, embroidery and cooking fried chicken and taters.
Survivors include Lois’ loving husband of 51 years, Hershel of Thief River Falls; children: Deanna (Aaron) Joppru, Desiree (Ted) Tollefson, Darla (Jason) Young and Doyle (Jamie) Miller; son-in-law, Wesley DePriest; grandchildren: Kaylee Tennyson, Craig Moore, Coalton Waggoner, Jessica Weyers, Kaitlin Tollefson, Karl Straume, Keith Straume, Kalee Vanderwall, Kaden Vanderwall, Austin DePriest, Isaac DePriest; great-grandchildren: Alex, Paige, Lilah, Finn, Carsen, Carter, Amberlyn, Xander, Aurora, Mara; brother, Jack Flinn; and many other relatives and friends.
Lois is preceded in death by daughter, Denise DePriest; parents, Robert and Phylis Flinn; and brothers, James and Robert Flinn.
