Red Lake Falls – Marilyn Wieland, Red Lake Falls, 78, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at her residence with her family by her side.
Marilyn F. Henke was born August 13, 1943 at Grafton, ND, the daughter of Clarence and Della (Darr) Henke. She was baptized October 17, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran and confirmed June 9, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran, Red Lake Falls. She graduated LaFayette High School, Red Lake Falls in May of 1961.
On November 25, 1961 Marilyn was united in marriage to the love of her life, Henry Philip Wieland.
Marilyn worked at Discovery Place on campus, Thief River Falls, Riverview Hillcrest Nursing Home and LaFayette High School, Red Lake Falls.
She liked working in her flower gardens, especially her lilies, and she liked baking cookies, buns and cinnamon rolls. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren, and her husband who was her rock for 60 years. Her home was always open to have her family home.
Marilyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, was active in many church activities such as choir for 56 years, Sunday School teacher for 35 years, served as LWML President, Treasurer, Secretary and also served as LWML Zone Secretary. She served with the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary as President, both in Red Lake Falls.
Survivors include husband, Hank; children, Debra (Jack) Sullivan, Todd (Jennifer) Wieland, Kristi (Jeffrey) Lytle and Casey (Bob) Klipping; grandchildren, William (Brandon Wald) Walsh, Whitney (Shane) Donner, Haley (Tyler) Newton, Elizabeth Lytle, Katelyn (Fiancè Kody Matthews) Sullivan, Rachel (special friend Colby Wooten), Sarah, Jordan and Luke Wieland, Jaden (special friend Zachary Boutain), Paige and Kylie Klipping; great-grandchildren, Blake and Braylin Donner, Hattie Newton; 5 step-grandchildren, Sarah(Anthony) Shumick, Hannah (Mitch) Gosche, Josh (Grace) Lytle, Rebekah (special friend Gage Lange), and Leah; and 3 step great-grandchildren, Conely and Hayden Shumick and June Gosche; brothers-in-law, Alvis Wieland, Don (Audrey) Wieland, Dean (Mae) Wieland; sister-in-law, Linda Henke; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Della; brother, Bud; mother- and father-in-law, Walter and Edna; two brothers-in-law, Ken and Blackie; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Ellen.
A funeral service was held on Monday, January 3, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Lake Falls, with Reverend Jeffrey Lytle officiating. Burial was at Immanuel Cemetery, Wylie.
