Carson, CA
Arthur “Art” James Bakke, CPA of Carson, CA, and formerly of Thief River, Falls, passed away November 18, 2022 at the age of 80 years young with his loving wife Jane at his side.
Arthur “Art” Bakke was born on January 4, 1942 in Thief River Falls, as the youngest of four children born to Gladys (Klein) and Jesse Bakke. He and his three sisters — Dorothy (Dot), Beatrice (Babe), and Janice (Bunny) grew up on their farmstead in Sanders Township, Thief River Falls.
After Art graduated from Lincoln High School, he joined the Army and served his country for three years and eleven months. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he enrolled and graduated from Bemidji State College soon after earning his CPA certification. Recognition of his skills as a CPA came when he was appointed Auditor for the State of Minnesota.
Art married Jane Miranda in 1971 and they had two sons: Samuel A. (Tony) and James S. (Scotty). Over the years, Art worked in various accounting positions while also pursuing his love of farming. For the last thirty-five years, Art and Jane have lived in California where they owned their own their own accounting and tax preparation service—STAXTAX.
Art was musically talented and played several instruments. He would play guitar or piano at family gatherings and entice family members to gather and sing. This led to lots of laughter and family remembrances.
Art was mechanically inclined loving vintage trucks, cars, and farm machinery. One of his pleasures was hunting and then finding something to add to his collection. Art and Jane fixed up their family farm in Minnesota every summer after tax season. Art and Jane enjoyed this time and always invited the extended family for fun get togethers.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; sons, Samuel A. (Sarah) and James S. (Lisa); five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two of his sisters.
Art’s presence is greatly missed by his clients, his family, his friends, and especially by his beloved wife Jane.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
